PUNE, Sept 3: The top three rankers of Pune, Solapur, and Ahmednagar districts at the SSC and HSC examinations 1999, will receive the Dhirubai Ambani Foundation awards from Dr Vijay Bhatkar, former executive director of C-DAC and Honorary Vice-chancellor of Dnyaneshwar Vidyapeeth on September 9.
A total of 13 SSC merit rewards of a bicycle and Rs 2000 each, (Rs 4000 for handicapped students) and 16 undergraduate scholarships between Rs 7,000-15,000 for HSC students will be presented by Bhatkar. Instituted in 1996 for SSC and HSC students in Maharashtra and Gujarat, the Dhirubai Ambani SSC merit award scheme and the Dhirubhai Ambani undergraduate scholarship scheme were extended to Goa, Daman, Diu, Dadra Nagar Haveli and the first 10 CBSE toppers from Gujarat and Maharashtra in 1997.
Dr Girish Jakhotiya, professor at the Bajaj Institute of Management Sciences, Mumbai, will be the guest speaker, at the function at Pudumjee Hall, MCCIA.
