PUNE, Sept 3: A meeting of the All-India Milli Council (AIMC) held in the city to study the current political scenario and the situation arising due to forthcoming elections decided to support the Sonia Congress candidates in their respective constituencies in Maharashtra except in Kolhapur and Marathwada zones.
A statement issued by Principal H M Shaikh, secretary general AIMC, Maharashtra State, stated that a concrete study with discussions were made to guide the common man regarding the forthcoming parliamentary and assembly elections. The AIMC decided that each division should adopt an individual stand and support secular forces.
The representatives from different zones in the state decided to support the Sonia Congress candidates except in Kolhapur and Marathwada zones. The increasing cost of living and the economically deteriorating fabric was discussed at the meeting which also saw a debate on the common man's dissatisfaction towards the attitude of the present day leaders.
The meeting was presided over by Abdul Sattar Yusuf Shaikh of the Mumbai unit, Haroon Mojawalla ( Secretary, Thane) and Hofiz Mohsin.
