Ruparel, Law joint leaders

MUMBAI, SEPT 3: Ruparel and Government Law shared the lead in the Inter-Collegiate chess tournament, organised by the Mumbai University and conducted by the Bombay Chess Association at the University Sports Pavilion, Marine Lines, today.

Ruparel scored over RA Podar with a margin of 2.5-1.5, while Govt Law beat Rajathan Seva Sangh 4-0.

Ruparel and Govt Law have ten points to their credit out of a possible 12 at the end of the third round. Podar remained on the second spot on 9.5 points.

Saboo Siddik, Sathaye, RD National and VES Inst. are on the joint third spot with nine points each. They defeated Kirti, Dayanand, Lajpatrai and Khalsa respectively.

In Group B, RK Talreja, Ulhasnagar, are leading with 7.5 points at the end of the second round. CHM, Ulhasnagar, DAV, Bhandup, and SV Night are on the second spot with 6.5 points each. Talreja scored over Bharat (3.5-0.5). CHM, DAV and SV defeated Vivek, NKT and Birla, respectively.

Malti Vhatkar of Chetana College, who is playing on board No. 1 has wonall her three matches. In the third-round, with white pieces, she defeated Ansari Muzfar of Sydenham.

Kadambari Herwadkar of Dahanukar has won two games out of three. Today she defeated Maharashtra's Ajaz Khan. Chetana along with Kirti are on 8.5 points each and are on the fourth spot.
