New head for Bombay Art Society

Art critic and litterateur Dnyaneshwar Nadkarni has been unanimously elected president of the Bombay Art Society. An art critic for the past 54 years, Nadkarni has been president of the Artists' Centre and Vice-President of the Bombay Art Society. The following members have been elected to the Managing Committee of the Bombay Art Society: Vaishali Narkar, secretary; Vikrant Manjrekar, treasurer; N K Pawaskar, Uttam Pacharne, Suresh Awari, G.A/ Dandekar, Ganesh Chougule, Jayashree Patankar, and Nitin Nangare.

New health website

SAAOL Health and Research Foundation will launch a new website called www.healthinfo-saaol.com which will give user addresses and detailed information on 23 kinds of alternate therapies, medical sciences. Also, information on medicine, health equipment, health magazines, hospitals, health resorts, herbal products, pharmaceuticals, blood banks, 24-hour dispensaries and ambulance services all over the country will be provided.

Amultimedia compact disc and a health information directory called Health in 2000: Know The Providers, will be launched.

Animal world course

The Extra-Mural Studies Department, University of Mumbai, is starting a course on `Animal World'. There is no bar on age and qualifications for this course, which comprises lectures, discussions, slide shows, nature trails and camps conducted by naturalists, researchers and hobbyists, is being offered. The course commences on October 2 and will continue over 7 months at Fort Campus, University of Mumbai. Medical camp for BMC staff

R G Urological Research Institute is organising a free sonography camp in association with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) from September16 to November 15 for BMC workers, to commemorate its 12th anniversary.

Free sonography, X-ray, blood and urine tests will be conducted at its premises on 14-ARoad, Ahimsa Marg, Khar (West). For registration, contact the BMC's Personnel Dept.

SIES college career fair

The Commerce Forum of SIES College of Commerce and Economics, Sion, announces ``Disha'' - a career fair from September 16 to 18 which will feature career guidance and counselling cells, lectures, presentations, demonstrations and aptitude tests.

On-the-spot essay contest

The Bombay Scottish School Alumni will conduct its annual on-the-spot essay competition on October 2 at 10 am on its premises. Contact the school office on 4453460.
