Talent contests held on Hindi Day

PANCHKULA, SEPT 14: A number of talent contests were organised on the occasion of "Hindi Day" by the Government College here today. These included contests in poetry recitation, singing, speech, mono-acting and dance.

In the speech contest, Vishal, a student of B.Com Part III, was adjudged the best, whereas Kulwinder Singh of BA Part III was awarded the second prize. Vishal also bagged first prize in poetry recitation and second prize was won by Amit of B.Com Part II. In the singing competition, Naveen Sharma of B.Sc.Part III bagged the first prize and Raj Kumar of B.A Part I was second.

In mono-acting, Kulvinder of B.A Part III was declared first, whereas Amin of B.Com Part II was declared second. Samta of B.A Part II won the first prize in dance competition and Shweta of B.A Part II bagged second prize. The function was presided over by the Principal of the college Vijay Pandit. Indira Rani Rao spoke on the significance of Hindi language.

The students who had taken part in the function on Van Mahotsav were also awarded prizes.

Meanwhile, the State Bank of India, Staff Training Centre organised a "Book Exhibition" on the occasion of "Hindi Day". The exhibition was inaugurated by the Block Development Officer of SBI, Bharat Bhushan Ahuja.
