Proposed definition of Sikh assailed
CHANDIGARH: Akhand Kirtani Jatha International has assailed the proposed draft of the All India Gurdwara Act, 1999, by Justice Harbans Singh, Chairman of the Sikh Gurdwara Tribunal, which aims to exclude Sehajdharis from the definition of Sikh. Gurmukh Singh, a spokesman for the Jatha said in a signed statement that Justice Harbans Singh on one hand attempts to exclude the Sehajdhari Sikhs from the ambit of Sikhism while on the other hand attempts to include all those under the definition of Sikh who believed in the teachings of 10 Gurus. He had excluded the overriding clause according to which a Sikh was one who did not believe in any other religion except the 10 Gurus.
