Crime watch -- Surat

Forest ranger run over
A district forest department range forester was killed on the spot when a tractor over-ran the motorcycle he was riding. A case registered in the Songadh police station of the district said Manibhai Madhubhai Patel was travelling on his Rajdoot motorcycle (GCZ 367) when he was fatally hit by the unidentified tractor near Jalaram Stone Quarry on the Surat Dhulia Road. The tractor driver fled the spot with the vehicle. The Songadh police is investigating further and has registered a case under sections of the IPC and MVA.

Woman dies
Deepika Satyajit, 26, a married woman residing at Raghuvir Society in Amroli died at around midnight on Monday in the Sattadhar Surgical Hospital, where she was being treated for burns sustained on September 6. Quoting declaration of the deceased, the Katargam police said she was pumping a kerosene stove when the lid blew off. Kerosene sprayed on her body and caught fire, causing severe burns. A case under CrPC 174 has been registered at the police station.

Vehicle theft
A Tvs Suzuki motorcycle (registration number GJ 5 AE 7358) belonging to Vitthal Mangal Patel has been reported stolen from Udhna area of the city. Patel approached the Udhna police on Tuesday afternoon, and complained that he had parked the vehicle in the basement of his house at Sriram Apartments, Prabhunagar, Udhna, from where it was stolen by unidentified persons. The Udhna police has registered a case of theft under IPC 379 and is investigating.

Assault
Vadodara: A complaint was lodged with Sayajigunj police on Sunday by Wadi Wadi villager Jayshreeben Patel accusing Chandubhai Patel, Ranchodbhai Patel, Ranjanaben Patel and Dakshaben Patel of intercepting her near her house and assaulting her. The police said that investigations had revealed that the complainant's family had had a long-running feud; Monday's incident was a fallout of that.
