UoP show cause notice to form er pro vice-chancellor

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, SEPT 14: The Management Council of the University of Pune (UoP) today unanimously decided to issue a show-cause notice to former Pro Vice-chancellor B D Choure, holding him responsible for sending anonymous letters degrading the UoP to all higher UoP officials early this year.

A criminal complaint is likely to be filed against Choure by next week, say highly placed University officials. This issue had been discussed at the Senate meeting in March this year. The management council today accepted the report of the committee of M Damame and A D Kale who had been appointed to enquire into this matter, which held the former pro-vice chancellor (PVC) guilty of breach of trust, tampering with University documents, contempt of the Vice-chancellor and forgery.

In another major decision, it was decided to increase by 10 the number of seats for Master of Computer Science (MCS) course per college and the NRI quota from 5 to 10 per cent, for which no entrance examination will be held.

An enquiry committee of Dr Vasant Pawar and Dr Sureshchandra Bhosale has been appointed to enquire into the recent incidence of double fees charged by the Sinhagad Institute.

Regarding the controversy of the appointment of A Deshpande as principal of BMCC, the management council decided that legal advice should be sought and a decision taken by the Vice-chancellor as soon as possible.
