YPS lads shine in squash tournament

CHANDIGARH, SEPT 14: Yadavindra Public School, SAS Nagar, maintained their winning streak in under-13 group in the All India Inter-School squash championship at Delhi. According to information received here, YPS lads who blanked Daly College, Indore, 3-0 in their first encounter, continued their good run in the meet by defeating Modern School (Delhi) 2-1, in their second outing.

YPS will now face Mayo College in their next match.

In the YPS-Daly College tie, the former took the lead through Harinder Sandhu who defeated Aditya Kashyap 9-6, 9-1, 1-9, 9-5.

Manpreet Malhi made it 2-0 by beating Raghav Mahajan 2-9, 10-8, 5-9, 9-6, 9-0. And in the decider Jai Sekhon outplayed Fatheh Singh 9-1, 9-3, 9-7.YPS in their match against Modern School, after initial hiccups got back on the winning track to maintain a clean slate in the meet.

Mahir Singh (YPS) lost to Arjit Gupta 9-5, 4-9, 0-9, 4-9. But Manpreet Malhi made no mistake in outplaying Anjan Vij 9-4, 9-5, 9-3. And Jai Sekhon got the better of Amanmeet Singh 9-6, 9-0, 9-4.

In the under-15 section, Mayo College, Ajmer, beat RIMC (Dehradun) 3-0 and The Doon School defeated Daly College, Indore, 2-1.

Daly College, however, beat Modern School (Delhi) 3-0, in the under-17 group.In the under-19 category, Bishop Cotton School, Shimla, won their match against Welham Boys School (Dehradun) 2-1.
