CHANDIGARH, Sept 17: Punjab University Students Union (PUSU), Haryana Students Association (HSA) and National Students Union of India (NSUI) today announced their alliance to contest the forthcoming Punjab University Campus Students' Council (PUCSC) elections. The three-party alliance would field Bhupinder Singh Bhuppi for the post of president and Mohan Singh for the post of general secretary.
This was announced by the representatives of the three parties here today at the Student Centre. Addressing mediapersons, Gurinder Singh Garewal, chairperson of PUSU, said the three-party alliance would work in the interest of the student community. "Our candidate would represent the campus rather than a single party or a student organisation. We believe in the one-man-one-post concept", said Garewal. Bhupinder Singh, president of HSA, has resigned from the presidentship of HSA to contest for the students' council. Mohan Singh, general secretary of PUSU, has also resigned to contest against the seat of general secretary of Students' Council.
Munish Anand, former president of PUCSC, criticised the role of the previous Students Council and projected the achievements of the three parties in alliance. He vowed that if voted to power, they would revive student activism on the campus.
