Liquor seized from official car; driver held Acting on an information received in the Crime Stoppers Cell, the police this evening arrested Rajinder, driver of Haryana Roadways' General Manager, Kurukshetra. The control room promptly alerted the police personnel at various barriers and Rajinder was nabbed from the Zirakpur barrier. He was allegedly carrying 100 pouches of Gulab whisky in the official Ambassador car with a red light atop. A case under Excise Act has been registered and the car impounded. Incidentally, in the crime meeting on Wednesday, the Inspector General of Police had stressed the need on better communication between police control room and police deployed on barriers, sources pointed out.PWD employee falls from PU building PWD employee Ramesh Chand, a Sector 15 resident, fell from the second floor of a building in Panjab University. He has been admitted to the PGI. Police sources said he was apparently drunk and roaming in the corridors of the building. One arrested for possessing liquor Balki Ram of Kumhar Colony has been arrested and 50 pouches of Hero whisky have been recovered from his possession. A case under Excise Act has been registered.
