PBI varsity to have modern theatre soon

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PATIALA, Sept 17: The Punjabi University Arts Auditorium will soon be converted into a modern theatre to stage plays, and be handed over to the Department of Theatre and Television.

This was announced by Vice-Chancellor Dr Jasbir Singh Ahluwalia, after the staging of the play Banda Bahadur, by students of the Theatre and Television Department at the university campus, last night. The play was scripted by Gurdial Singh and directed by Dr Yogesh Gambhir. The play presented the life history of the great Sikh warrior, Banda Bahadur. The two-hour performance kept the audience spellbound.

Expressing his appreciation of the play, the V-C said that he would help stage the play not only in Punjab, but also in other important towns of the country. It is to be staged at Anandpur Sahib in April next year, during the concluding celebrations of the Khalsa tercentenary.
