Five more arrested in Tasgaon case
Sangli:
Tasgaon police arrested five more persons in connection with killing PWP taluka secretary Hanumant Rendalkar while Congress leader Mahadev Patil and a few others were stated to be missing.

Rendalkar was stabbed to death when a group of Congressmen attacked PWP leader Shivaji Shinde after squabbles over Ganapati chariot procession in Tasgaon.

The town, famous for its grapes trade, meanwhile has returned to normalcy after the riot that had sent ripples across the region.

Mehetre honoured
Ahmednagar:
A senior agriculture-scientist at the Mahatma Phule Agriculture University Dr Subhash Mehetre has been honoured with a Doctor of Science degree by the US-based International University of Contemporary Studies.

Dr Mehetre, who was given the Lifetime Achievement Award by the United Writers Association in Chennai in April last, has to his credit several research papers.
