AHMEDNAGAR, Sept 17: The members of Gadkar family, on a hunger strike for past fortnight, withdrew their agitation today following an assurance from the top district officials to take suitable action. The fasting family members were also moved to the civil hospital by the police.Allegedly harassed by the relatives and villagers, four members of the Gadkar family had resorted to an indefinite hunger strike at the district collectorate here. Ironically, the administration possibly gripped by the election fever had not taken cognisance of the family's grievances, till today.
Rambhau Gadkar, along with his pregnant wife and two children, started the hunger strike on September 3 to protest against the family's alleged eviction from Kamargaon village in Ahmednagar taluka. Gadkar was alleging that his relatives and others had forced him to leave the village.
