MUMBAI, SEPT 17: With the Election Commission's decision to withdraw the code of conduct with immediate effect, the Cabinet members can now avail of Government facilities such as aircraft and official vehicles, besides laying foundation stones and presiding over inaugural functions."Since polling in Maharashtra is over, the Government should be allowed to function as a Government. There will be no objection on use of aircraft and official vehicles within the State by the Cabinet members except on October 5, 6 and 7, the vote counting days," Election Commission Secretary Subhash Panni informed Chief Secretary Arun Bongirwar.
The Commission also stated that the Cabinet members are now welcomed to lay foundation stones and preside over inaugural functions. "The State Government is free to take normal decisions within the normal constitutional parameters," the Commission informed.
Since the code has been withdrawn, Chief Minister Narayan Rane has convened a special Cabinet meeting on Tuesday to considerclearing pending proposals. The Cabinet is likely to take a decision on reconstruction of BDD chawls in the metropolis.
