NEW DELHI, September 17: An impressive 119 by left-hander Waragoda and his 162-run fourth wicket stand with wicket-keeper Devapriya powered Sri Lanka to a four- wicket victory over India in the second match of the Veteran All-Stars Cricket Series.India scored 268 for 8 in the allotted 45 overs which Lanka overtook scoring 269 for 6 in 40.4 overs.
Indian openers Lalchand Rajput and Atul Wasson put on 91 runs before Wasson was dismissed by Madhurasinghe. Wasson, who scored 61, was ably supported by Rajput (45).
Lanka began shakily as both openers Guy de Alwis and Madhurasinghe fell cheaply with Vivek Razdan and Atul Wasson claiming their scalpes. Waragoda raced to his 50 and then blasted the Indian attack to record a 162 run stand with Devapriya, who reached his century in 74. He was eventually bowled by Chetan Sharma for 119. Later, Dharmasena and Ju de Silva played sensibly to steer Lanka to victory.
