US sanctions on China likely -- Clinton's aide

PRESS TRUST OF INDIA
WASHINGTON, SEPT 19: United states today said it would impose severe sanctions on China if evidence determined Beijing's clandestine transfer of M-11 Missiles to Pakistan.

"If this is indeed the case, (that China provided Pakistan with complete M-11 Missiles), the administration will obviously comply with the law," US President Bill Clinton's National Security Adviser Samuel Berger said on NBC's `Meet The Press' programme. The possibility of sanctions under the US missile sanctions law comes on the heels of an unclassified us intelligence report released last week which publicly stated that Pakistan had received M-11 short-range ballistic missile systems from China.
