VADODARA, Sept 19: The city Youth Congress, which has launched a relentless campaign against Oasis from the past one week, will open one more front against the organisation by petitioning the Charity Commissioner on Monday. A delegation of YC leaders will submit a memorandum to the Commissioner demanding an inquiry into Oasis' financial affairs.Youth Congress leader Naval Bajaj said residents of Sherkhi village -- where Oasis has set up Maitribhoomi on a 10-acre plot -- held a meeting at Veraimata Mandir on Sunday and reportedly expressed readiness to agitate if the government did not hand over the land which houses the Oasis premises.
Bajaj, while addressing the meeting, criticised the organisation for not keeping up its promises and also questioned the organisation's source of fund. He alleged that despite collecting lakhs of rupees the organisation did not spend it on the village or the villagers.
He contested Oasis' claim that money was spent on medical relief, education and on removing poverty. No villager was benefited by it, he claimed.
Meanwhile, Oasis volunteers have been provided police protection at Sherkhi village following threats from residents of Bhimpura village to destroy its premises. Angry villagers had attacked Oasis office saying the organisation had done little for the village while giving many a promise before getting possession of the land.
