VMC re-lays roads

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, Sept 19: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) began patchwork of roads from Saturday as the hotmix plant begun operation.

Executive Engineer (Roads-Project) M M Patel told The Indian Express that 12 truck-load of mix material was given to ward offices on Saturday for patchwork. According to sources, the patchwork has particularly begun in areas where Ganesha idols have been installed in the ongoing Ganesha festival. The civic hotmix plant was closed since mid-June due to monsoon. The VMC expects to take 15-odd trucks on Sunday. Ruling BJP councillors had demanded that the hotmix plant should be re-started and patchwork of roads carried out for the Ganesha festival.

Patel said recarpeting of roads may start from October 1, since the VMC does not want to take chances as the monsoon is still on.

Meanwhile, the VMC will illuminate the Sursagar Lake where a majority of Ganesha idols will be immersed. Other lakes like Siddhnath, Sarasia, Bapod, Mohammad, Danteshwar, Makarpura, Atladra, Gotri and Gorwa will also get emphasis.
