Mehsana hospital gets Rs 1.96 lakh donation

VADODARA, Sept 19: ONGC has donated Rs 1.96 lakhs for upgrading the Mehsana civil hospital's opthalmology department under its Socio-Economic Development Programmes. The cheque was handed over to H.B. Varia, District Collector and Chairman, Blindness Control Society, by Dr Jauhari Lal, Director (Personnel), ONGC, at the Medical Conference held at ONGC, Mehsana, recently.

In his speech, Varia lauded the ONGC's Commitment to blindness eradication by conducting various cataract-removal camps under its Mehsana Project. He said that in two years, about 700 patients were operated upon in the eye camps with the ONGC's assistance. ONGC has also helped equip the hospital, he added.

All India Medical Conference held. The Mehsana Project organised and hosted the ONGC All India Medical Conference. The heads of Medical and P&A personnel of all regions and projects attended the conference. Dr Jauhari Lal, Director (Personnel) inaugurated the conference.

Lal said the medical profession is a noble one, and there cannot be a greater service than relieving any one from pain and suffering. He reiterated that it is important to sensitise doctors to pain amelioration.

Prominent issues in medical services and optimisation of costs were also focal areas at the conference. The conference agenda included issues like the extent of medical facilities, new standards of medical examination for fresh recruitment, new guidelines for medical reimbusement, and medical facilities for retired employees and wards.

Hindi fortnight celebration `Hindi fortnight' is being celebrated with great earnestness and enthusiasm at ONGC Vadodara. Shri Daljit Singh, GGM - Basin Manager, Vadodara, inaugurated the programme, which was well-attended. The fortnight has in store a number of Hindi promotional programmes like Hindi debates, an anuvad competition, Prashn Manch, Gyan-Vigyan and Kavita Paath.

EWC members elected Elections for the post of Vice-President and seven members of Employees Welfare Committee (EWC) were conducted recently. In a surprise, but welcome move, the EWC members were elected unopposed. This feature was appreciated by all as it reinforced the cordial and harmonious industrial relations prevailing in Mehsana. Ramesh R. Patel was elected Vice-President, while Amit Kumar, P. Pradhan, D.P. Vyas, J.H. Prajapati, P.K. Patel, R.N. Chowbey, S.H. Malek and S.S. Gavari were declared elected as EWC members.
