Immersions at Gaypagla banned
Additional District Magistrate R J Makadia has issued a directive banning the immersion of Ganesh idols at Gaypagala Owada in the Tapi, near Kamrej, in view of increased chances of accidents at the spot. The order will be in force from September 23 to 25.

Yuva Mahotsav
The state youth board, Youth Services and Cultural Activity group and Dangs' sport department will jointly organise a `Yuva Mahotsav' at Ahwa, the district headquarters, from October 15. All organisations who wish to participate in the Mahostsav should send entries to the sport office. Schools and cultural organisation can also participate in the festival.

Postal services
Senior Superintendent of Post offices (Surat Division) Dabhi, speaking at a discussion on `Postal services' organised by the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry, stressed the need for opening more post offices in residential and industrial areas. A number of postal officials and SGCCI office-bearers attended the discussion held on Thursday.

Amar Van n Dr C H Rana, Vice-Chancellor of Gujarat Agriculture University, Waghai, advocated the need to set up an ``Amar Shahid Van'' in the Dangs. He also advised Dangs's farmers to adopt scientific methods of farming. Planting saplings at the agriculture department Kendra, Rana expressed satisfaction over the department's efforts in this direction.

Rotarian visits
Dr Ashok Abhyankar, who has been appointed Rotary District 3060 governor for the year 2000-2001, visited the city on Saturday. Member of a number of national and international associations, Dr Abhyankar spoke on ``Service above self''. A number of Rotarians attended the talk held at Samruddhi on Saturday night.
