Woman's chain looted in this year's 37th snatching incident

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Sept 19: Yet another incident of snatching took place here today to take the year's count of snatching incidents to 37.

Police sources said that around 2 p.m. near the rotatory of Sectors 37, 38, 40 and 41, Jagan Nath and his wife were going on a Kinetic Honda scooter when a scooterist came and snatched away a gold chain worn by the pillion-riding woman. The couple panicked and could not take down the number or the make of the cream-coloured scooter. Police added that they received the information about the incident rather late around 3.15 p.m. otherwise they might have succeeded in trapping the culprit.

The couple had drove down from Ambala to the city to see their friend in Sector 37.

The incidents of snatchings have been increasing over the past few months despite the police claim to have recently launched a massive campaign against the snatchers.
