Thieves enjoying the festive mood!

PUNE, Sept 19: With Ganesh being the cynosure during the ongoing mega festival, thieves made hay taking advantage of the crowd engrossed in festivities in different part of the city on Sunday.

It was mostly the chain snatchers, according to the police, with a few cases being reported from the Kothrud area. Two youths astride a motorcycle were involved in three such cases when they snatched the chains after threatening Vijaya Ramchandran Bhalerao and Aruna Barve in two separate incidents and fled on their vehicle.

A golf set costing Rs 32,000 kept in a car parked near Wadia College caught eyes of the culprits who broke the window glass and decamped with the equipment. Miscreants pounced upon Vinod Chamanlal who was busy in filming the festivities along with his wife in Bhimpura Galli, snatched his video camera and vanished in the crowd before the couple could react to the situation. Prakash Shrirang Ghate, a resident of Kothrud, he found his car windshield broken and his car steroe missing on Sunday.
