Thieves strike despite vigil

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
PUNE, Sept 19: Despite the massive police bandobast for the ongoing Ganpati festival thieves struck at four places and decamped with goods varying from golf sticks to a video camera.

According to a complaint by Maj Gen (retd) Avinash Kohli thieves broke into his car parked in front of Wadia collegeon Thursday and decamped with his golfing equipment worth Rs 32,000.

Vinod Mehra had gone to Bhimpuri Galli with his wife when somebody pushed them and made off with his video camera. At Swargate S.T. bus stand Arvind Venkatesh Kulkarni lost Rs 8,000 cash and other valuables when his suitcase was stolen. Prakash Ghate's audio system was stolen from his car in Kothrud.
