Amit, Geeta are champions

CHANDIGARH, Sept 19: Amit Sachdeva and Geeta Aggarwal claimed titles in the men's and women's singles event, respectively, in the Chandigarh State badminton tournament which concluded at the Panjab University Hall, here today.

In the men's final, played between Ashish Sharma and Amit, the former conceded the match in the first game due to injury when Amit was leading 13-12.

In the women's final Geeta did not have to toil to score a 11-0, 11-3 win over Parnita.

Mala Gaba, however, had the honour of winning four titles in the meet.

Girls:
Under-16: Mala Gaba bt Isha Sharma 11-4, 11-1. Doubles: Mala Gaba and Isha Sharma bt Rachna Sethi and Shilpa 15-3, 15-12. Under-19: Mala Gaba bt Isha 11-0, 11-9. Doubles: Mala Gaba and Parnita bt Nidhi and Isha 17-14, 15-12.
Boys: Under-16: Puneet Bansal bt Akash Singh 17-14, 14-17, 15-12. Doubles: Akash Sethi and Akash Singh bt Puneet and Narinder 15-12, 15-8. Under-19: Vivek Sharma bt Deepak Sidhu 15-4, 15-17, 15-5.

SPS-41, SAI win
Shivalik Public School, Sector 41 and Sports Authority of India (SAI), Girls Hostel, Sector 18, lifted the boys and girls titles, respectively, in the 13th Chandigarh State volleyball championships which concluded at the Shivalik school premises here today. SPS-41 beat Coaching Centre, Sector 7 25-19, 21-25, 25-23, 25-19 while SAI girls defeated Sports Complex, Sector 46.

Hat-trick by Sushant
Sushant Sharma's hat-trick (4 for 21) enabled Bombay Cricket Club beat Government College, Sector 46 by one-wicket in the fitwell cricket tournament.
Brief scores: GCM-46: 93 in 20 overs (Ramit 25, Kapil 19, Sushant Sharma 4 for 21); Bombay CC: 95 for 9 in 19.3 overs (Tarun 22 n.o., Raj Lamba 19, Ashish 3 for 13). Sagar Sports: 75 in 15.4 overs (Raju 26, Gurmeet Singh 4 for 16); Vinni XI: 77 for 3 in 11 overs (Vishal Vinni 35, Anil Sharma 2 for 23).

Pawan shines
Fine half century by Pawan (52) enabled BBMB beat Fujitsu XI by 44 runs in the Friendship Cup cricket tournament today.
Brief scores: BBMB: 131 for 6 in 25 overs (Pawan 52, Baljeet Bawa 32, Rattan 2 for 32); Fujitsu: 87 (Sunil 28, Amit Kumar 4 for 12).

Rajesh excels
An all-round performance by Rajesh (55 and 3 for 20) helped UIA defeat Anupam XI by 57 runs in the Shine Star cricket tournament today.
Brief scores: UIA: 124 (Rajesh 55, Jindal 20); Anupam XI: 67 (Rajesh 3 for 30). Godrej XI: 137 for 5 (Rajesh Patha 66, Vinod Binta 28); Power XI: 110 for 7 (Rocky 37, Naresh Dingra 3 for 11).
