Stanislaus, St Paul's prevail

MUMBAI, SEPT 20: St Stanislaus and St Paul strode through the green channel into the MSSA-Colgate inter-school under-12 second division football semi-finals at Azad Maidan today. Stanislaus beat Our Lady of Remedy 2-1, while St Paul beat Christchurch 2-0.

Don Bosco, Matunga `B' and St Xavier's, Fort `A' were not as lucky, as they had to go through the ordeal of a tie-breaker. The losing teams were St Joseph, Malad and Naval Public School respectively.

Boys U-12 (Div II, QF): Stanislaus 2 (Faisal Attarwalla, Elton D'Souza) bt Our Lady of Remedy 1 (Craig D'Souza); Paul 2 (Malcolm Blakely, Amol Paradhe) bt Christchurch 0; Xavier's, Fort A 3 (Keith D'Souza, Sagar Bhure, Akash Kashyap) bt Naval Public 1 (Inderjeet Singh) via tie-breaker (FT 1-1); Don Bosco, Matunga B 3 (Maaziyar Engineer, Alan Chalukunnil, Sanjeev Vishwakarma) bt Joseph, Malad 1 (Ashutosh Pai) via tie-break FT 1-1.

(Div III-A): Marol Education 0 drew Xavier's, Andheri 0; Anthony's, Vakola 2 (Anson D'Souza, Nikhil D'Souza) btJamnabai Narsee B 1 (Braghu Pallicha); (Div III-K): Utpal Sanghvi 4 (Ray Barot 2, Kapil Lalwani, Aahad Jagmagia) bt Michael 0; (Div III-M): Andrew's B 1 (Anuj Hatalkar) bt Joseph's, Kandivli 0; Hansraj Morarjee 1 (Wamik Shaikh) bt Mary's, Mira Road 0.

Titto Mathew 'tricks

A hat-trick by Titto Mathew enabled Chembur Stars to rout Challengers 4-1 in the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour Parish football tournament at Chembur. Sunil Jacob was the other scorer for the winners, while Jerome Tony reduced the margin.

Three quick goals in the second-half helped Twinkle Stars to earn a semi-final berth, defeating Life-Line A 3-0. Suresh Krishnan, Prahlad Rajagopalan and Amrit Kundar were the goal-getters.

BMMPKB triumph

A self-goal by BPCL Refineries defender PK Sharma enabled BMMPKB to score a 1-0 victory in the MDFA Chattrapati Shivaji Division I-B football league at the St Xavier's ground, Parel, today.

Cafe Royal trounced Ceat 4-1 in a Division I-A tie. Shaun Nunes, Nilesh, L Nunesand Fareez Vasania netted for the winners. Dinesh D'Silva had given Ceat the lead.

In a Division III-A match, Podar held Holy Cross (Kurla) 1-1. Aditya Mhatre scored for Podar and Simon Gomes netted for Holy Cross.

NM slam 10 goals

NM Commerce thrashed Gadge Maharaj 10-0 in the Junior Inter-Collegiate football tournament at the St Xavier's ground, Parel, this morning.

Kunal Gadar (3), Anuraj Wagh (3), Shishir Ahuja (2), Piran Gandhi and Shashank Pokhare scored for NM.
