Malad school's licence cancelledThe Mumbai Divisional Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education suspended the registration of Swami Dayanand Saraswati School at Malad (E) today for allowing ineligible candidates to appear for the SSC examination March 1999. The school, run by the R S Pathak Education Trust. The students who illegally appeared for the exams have been barred from sitting for the next three exams.
Four held for bank fraud
Four persons have been arrested for defrauding the New India Cooperative Bank of Rs 92.5 lakh today. The accused Diksha Dhor, Sharad Putram Devendra Nanad and Kantilal Shah have been remanded to police custody till October 28. Two other accused Jabeer Adanwala and Irfan are still at large. Charges of cheating, misappropriation and forgery have been registered against them for conspiring and posing as bogus agents of the bank to cooperative societies. (UNI)
New international terminal
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) willcommission the new international terminal wing (IIC) at the international airport in a phased manner from September 23.
Built at a cost of Rs 142 crore, the much-delayed terminal with four parking bays is capable of handling three million passengers a year. (PTI)
Gawli man shot dead
An Arun Gawli gangster was gunned down in a police encounter at Nagpada today. Fajaram Bhoir (35) and an accomplice, were shot at after they arrived on a motorcycle and were ordered to surrender. They died in the subsequent exchange of fire. While Bhoir died, his accomplice fled. Bhoir has six serious offences registered against him. (PTI)
