Cholera epidemic in PalgharThe cholera epidemic in Navli village of Palghar taluka has been brought under control with all victims having recovered, says Dinkar Gavit, medical officer, Palghar Primary Healthcare Centre.
According to a press note, 44 people had contracted cholera after drinking contaminated water. Of these, 36 were hospitalised, while 35 were discharged. Health authorities are keeping vigil for fresh outbreaks, 1,689 of the 2,107 residents of Navli village have also been vaccinated. Blaming the Palghar Nagarpalika's water supply, the press note says the situation has since been rectified.
Motor training for tribals
Under the tribal welfare programmes, free heavy-vehicle motor training will be given to tribals in Jawhar, Wada, Vikramgadh and Mokhada talukas. Welfare project officer, Jawhar, Shivaji Dudhwadkar, announced that only tribals between 18 and 25 years are eligible for free enrolment, which will be done on September 27 between 10 am and 2 pm at the PoliceTraining Centre at Jawhar.
