Nadeem to stand trial

LONDON: A London court on Tuesday found prima facie evidence against music director Nadeem Akhtar Saifi in the Gulshan Kumar murder case and said he has to stand trial, causing a serious setback to his battle against extradition to India. The final ruling will be on Oct 6.

Sonia wows UP

SAMBHAL (UP): Sonia Gandhi today charged the Vajpayee Government with `stooping to the level' of delaying her flights and refusing permission to her election meetings out of nervousness over her `growing popularity.'

Narmada overflowing

BHOPAL: The flood situation remained grim on Tuesday in about 200 villages of three districts of Madhya Pradesh and several places in South Gujarat. Narmada is still flowing about 13 feet above the danger mark of 964 feet.

Booker shockers

LONDON:Six authors, including India's Anita Desai, were on Tuesday shortlisted for the Booker Prize but shockingly, the judges omitted Salman Rushdie, Vikram Seth and Roddy Doyle.
