VADODARA, Sept 21: More than commuters looking for train timings and reservation status, it is the curious onlookers who are taking the maximum `advantage' of the touch screen facility which was installed at the Vadodara railway station on Sunday.``It is hilarious. There are some people who are more interested in playing around with the screen than in obtaining information,'' said a railway employee. Even Express Newsline found some fiddling with the system. But for those who are seriously looking for information, it is a helpful gadget. Queries like the fare between stations or the distance between them are answered at a touch. ``Yes, it is a new thing for all of us, and it is natural that such queries are being asked just for the heck of it,'' said R K Shah, a commuter. But there are disadvantages.
``People make a long queue, and actual queries are kept aside as there is nobody to supervise the operations,'' said Shah. ``There are advantages to this new system as we no longer have to depend on the person at the counter and be welcomed by an irritated look on the face,'' said Praveen Kumar.
Kumar added that with this screen, passengers would not have to depend on others for information, they could find out for themselves.
