VADODARA, Sept 21: Three of the accused, involved in beating up a Fourth Year Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) student, were granted anticipatory bail by a lower court on Tuesday.The four include Ashok Chaudhary, son of Panigate Police Inspector S G Chaudhary. His accomplices who got the bail were Kalpesh Shah and Kartik Patel. The cases registered against the accused were false and thus they were entitled to an anticipatory bail, the advocate for the foru-some argued. On Monday the four accused had filed an application for anticipatory bail, which came up for hearing on Tuesday. However, eight other accused in the case are still absconding.
On Friday, the Raopura police had registered a case against the miscreants for their alleged involvement in beating up Jignesh Manubhai Patel, a BE student in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology.
According to police, Patel and his friends had tried to resist when the miscreants were thrashing Kalpesh, another student. Patel had alleged in his FIR that the miscreants left Kalpesh and, instead, started beat him (Patel) up, causing minor injuries over his left eye.
A case under Section 143, 147, 148 and 506(2) of IPC had been registered against them.
