Two die in car accident
A man and a woman were killed and two others were seriously injured in a road mishap on NH-8 near Jambua bridge on Wednesday morning. According to Makarpura police, the incident occurred when thevictims' Maruti car (GJ-14-8653) hit a stationery truck (GJ-7-X-6675) at 4 am when visibility was very low. The deceased have been identified as Nainaben Maganpula Magolia, a resident of Rajkot and Babu Devrajbhai Parsara of Amreli.

Cheating case
The Wadi police on Wednesday registered a case of cheating against three persons of Batakiwada in Mughalwada area for allegedly misappropriating Rs 1,860 belonging to Mohammedhussain alias Montughulam Rassol Malik of Yaqutpura. According to police, Malik had deposited the money with the accused who ran a prize scheme without any registration.

Four arrested
Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) sleuths on Wednesday arrested four persons from Navi Nagri in Sama area in connection with brewing of illicit country liquor and seized brewing equipments and raw materials, besides a large quantity of usable country liquor. They four were later handed over to the Fatehgunj Police Station, in whose jurisdiction the area comes, for investigation.

Beaten to death
A 40-year-old farmer, Anda Devla Rathwa, a resident of Kheda village under Jetpur-Pavi police station, was beaten to death by four persons of the same village on Tuesday afternoon over a land dispute, the police said. According to police, one of the accused, Desinh Vethla Rathwa, had allegedly encroahced upon a portion of the deceased person's land.
