Food poisoning affects 47 school kids

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, Sept 22: Forty-seven school children from the Mahatma Gandhi School at Uruli Kanchan took ill following food poisoning on Monday night. The students aged between 11 and 15 years, started complaining of nausea and stomachache immediately after dinner.

They were rushed to Sassoon and Naidu Hospitals late in the night and all except one were released on Tuesday afternoon. According to doctors, Nilesh Phanse, still admitted at Sassoon, would be released later in the evening. Police suspect that the bajra roti that the students consumed at lunch and dinner was responsible for the food poisoning. Food samples have been sent to ascertain the cause of the incident, police said.
