D'Sa siblings advance

MUMBAI, SEPT 22: D'Sa sisters Kimberley and Jannike, daughters of former international Leroy D'Sa, advanced to the fourth round of the MSSA-Colgate inter-school badminton tournament at CCI today.

The only seed to bow out was Nihal Pradhan of IES VN Sule, defeated 15-8 15-5 by Amay Merchant of St Mary's, Mazagaon in the midget boys section.

Advancing to the fourth round were:

Boys (midget): Amay Merchant (Mary's, Mazagaon), Soumitra Bengri (Parle Tilak), Raj Kothari (Jamnabai), Abhishek Nair (Maneckji), Akhil Kamalakar (Lokhandwala), Dhruv Parekh (Joseph, Wadala), Anand Agarwal (Jasudben), Shamit Munjal (Cathedral).

Ramya Venkat and Amodi Borkar set up an all-Podar final in the Junior College Sports Association inter-college girls badminton tournament at Kalidas Sabhagruha today.

Boys team championship (3rd round): Ruia bt Mulund Commerce 2-0; KC bt Swami Vivekanand 2-1; NM bt Acharya AVP 2-0; Ruparel bt BH Somani 2-0.

Girls singles (semis): Amodi Borkar (Podar) bt Rashmi (Vaze) 10-12 11-4 11-7; Ramya Venkat (Podar) bt Grishma (Vaze) 11-7 11-2.

Girls team championship (3rd round): Podar bt NM 2-0; Ruiabt BES, Bhandup 2-0; HR bt Bhavan's, Andheri 2-0; Vaze bt SIES 2-0.
