Sanjay, Sahil lead Chandigarh win

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
CHANDIGARH, Sept 22: Chandigarh mauled Mohali by 217 runs in the Punjab Inter-District (Under 19) Dhruve Pandove Trophy cricket match here today. Chasing Chandigarh's total of 312, Mohali put up a disastrous show, being bowled out for a paltry 95.

The Chandigarh off spinner Sanjay Dhull and left-arm spinner Vipul shared the spoils, capturing three wickets each while leggie Sahil Bhatia and seamer Harit Sharma picked up two each as Chandigarh made it to the last eight stage where they will meet now Jalandhar.

That Mohali were up against a Herculean task was an admitted fact but their capitulation was on the unexpected lines. None of their batsmen showed the heart for battle. Sanjay bowled a probing line and alongwith Sahil put Mohali on the backfoot straightway, accounting for the first five wickets between them. Scores: Chandigarh: 312 beat Mohali: 95 (Kamal Walia 21; Sanjay Dhull 3-25, Vipul 3-3, Harit Sharma 2-17, Sahil Bhatia 2-26) Varun deadly

Amritsar: A devastating spell by fast bowler Varun Mishra, who claimed seven for 20, helped Amritsar beat Muktsar by an innings and 180 runs in the Dhruv Pandov Trophy match here.
Scores: Muktsar: (Ist innings) 27 and (2nd innings) 58 (Varun Mishra 7-20) lost to Amritsar: 265 for 2 declared.
