CHANDIGARH, Sept 24: UT Civil Judge (junior division) Jasbir Singh today ordered a stay on the declaration of results to the post of president. The Magistrate further ordered the Dean, Students welfare, to keep the results under his own seal and signature and bring the submit report to this effect at 2 pm tomorrow. He observed that since the elections process to the students body of DAV college has already started, there would be no use staying elections at this stage. The order was passed with regard to the suit filed here yesterday by one Reetinder Singh Mann, who sought the court to restrain college authorities from holding today's elections as the same were allegedly being conducted in an illegal and arbitrary manner. Mann stated that he had not been allowed to file his nomination for the post of the president and had been implicated in a false case.
The Magistrate held that a strong prima facie case was made out in the favour of the plaintiff who was debarred from contesting elections to the post of the president of students body and under the given circumstances the Magistrate stayed declaration of results for the said post till further orders of the court.According to R.C. Jeewan, principal, the candidate selected to the rest of the posts are vice-presidnet Surinder Kalta, secretary Nishu Dubey, joint secretary Bobby James.
