Environment quiz contest

CHANDIGARH, Sept 24: The National Environmental Olympiad for school children was organised by Tata Energy Research Institute (TERI), New Delhi, at Shivalik Public School, Sector 41 here today. About 150 students participated in the declamation contest, organised on the occasion.

The students deliberated on the topic: "Environmental concerns -- a child's perspective".

Mandeep Kaur of Sacred Heart School bagged the first position. Mridula of Shivalik Public School stood second and Shweta of Bhawan Vidyalaya won the third prize.

"The nation-wide contest will have over 3,000 students from nearly 800 schools as participants", according to Annapurna Vancheswaran, the organiser of the contest. "The zonal winners would be invited to participate in terra quiz, a national environmental quiz to be telecasted on doordarshan on Sundays beginning from November 14", she added.
