EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
PUNE, SEPT 26: The mutilated body of a teenaged girl from Dattawadi, who was allegedly abducted by a young neighbour while returning home on Thursday evening, was found in the City on Saturday night.

The body of Neeta Hendre (16), a Std XI student at MES College, was found in a vacant plot on the campus of Swargate police lines. She was gagged with a cloth and her throat slit with a sharp weapon, according to police.

The doctors who performed a post-mortem on Neeta at Sassoon hospital said she died due to ``asphyxia caused due to strangulation associated with shock as a result of acute wound on throat.'' No arrests were made till late Saturday night.

Police said Neeta , who lived in Rakshalekha Society in Dattawadi, was abducted soon after she stepped out of the private coaching class in Sadashiv Peth where she used to go for tuitions, on Thursday evening. Her father Shamrao had lodged a first information report at Dattawadi police station accusing their young neighbour Satish Wavbande of kidnappingNeeta the same night.

According to the FIR, Vidya was chatting with her friends outside the class when Satish approached them and whisked the collegian away under the pretext of discussing some important matter.

Tension mounted in Dattawadi when the news spread. Irate residents staged a dharna in front of the Dattawadi police chowkey.
