Man beaten to death
The Umra police have registered a murder case against four youths who beat to death a resident of Un Patia area of the city, late on Saturday night. Kangali Kirtan Nayak of Un Patia died early on Sunday morning in the hospital, where he was admitted with internal injuries. The Umra police said that Nayak heard that one of his friends had a fight, and went to the spot at Bhimshaktinagar to intervene. He was assaulted there by four people. Later in the afternoon, the police arrested Santosh Ramchandra Mahapatra (30) and are looking for the other three.

3-yr-old crushed
A three-year-old boy died on the spot when he was hit by a State Transport bus on the state highway between Morthan and Achharan villages of Olpad taluka on Saturday evening. The district police stated that Vilas Chhaniya Vasava of Morthan village was standing with his nephew on the road when the ST bus (GJ 1 Z 3711) hit the boy. The bus driver later surrendered before the Olpad police, who have registered a case under sections of the IPC and MVA.

Burns death
Gayatri Chandu Shah (30), a resident of Kukarmunda village of Nizar taluka of the district died in the New Civil Hospital of the city on Sunday, where she was being treated for burn injuries for the past ten days. Quoting the dying declaration of the woman, the police stated that she was heating milk over a stove, when it exploded and burnt her. A case under CrPC 174 has been registered.

Suicide
A 27-year-old woman residing at Dungra village of Songadh taluka committed suicide by setting herself on fire, a case registered in the Songadh police station said. According to a complaint lodged by Rajesh Thakore Gamit, his wife Chhani quietly went to a forest nearby and set herself on fire. She was rushed to the Songadh health centre, where she died.

Fatal fall
Chhana Ramsingh Patel, an electrician by profession, died early on Sunday morning in the Ashaktashram hospital, where he was being treated for internal injuries sustained on September 17. According to a case registered in the Mahidharpura police station, Patel was working on the second floor of Anmol Towers on Sumul Dairy Road when he lost balance and fell, sustaining internal injuries in the abdomen area. A case under CrPC 174 has been registered.
