GUWAHATI, SEPT 26: Congress president Sonia Gandhi said here today that the ruling Asom Gana Parishad was harassing the minorities who were living under fear ever since the regional party came to power in the State three years ago.
Addressing a party rally on a rainy day in the Judges' Field here, she said the AGP had failed on all fronts and the BJP-led government at the Centre was either turning a blind eye or was protecting the State government.
``The AGP's nexus with the militants is increasing. Murder, abduction, extortion have created fear and the minorities are feeling harassed,'' she said. ``The BJP-led government, which has repeatedly wanted to use Article 356 in Bihar, is protecting the AGP government in Assam,'' she added.
Focussing on the alleged failure of the AGP-led government, she said that it had stopped all welfare scheme earlier introduced by the Congress.
