Yediyurappa to be CM if BJP-JD wins

BANGALORE, SEPT 26: The Bharatiya Janata Party's State Executive has made it clear that party state unit President B S Yediyurappa will be the future Chief Minister of the State, if the BJP-Janata Dal (United) alliance is voted to power in the state.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ananth Kumar, who inaugurated the two state executive, while making the declaration of Yediyurappa's candidature for the future CM's post also reiterated the party's faith of wresting power at the Centre with Atal Bihari Vajpayee as the next Prime Minister.

``Almost all the exit polls conducted by various agencies indicate the BJP is the people's will that a stable government with a large majority in Lok Sabha will lead the country to the next millenium. The party is committed to build India into a strong nation vying for a space along with the super powers,'' he added.

Stating that the country had recently faced the last elections of the millennium, he said that this was the largest election process in five stages anydemocracy in the world had faced in recent times. He said it was a more or less peaceful elections that the country had witnessed in the last five decades. ``All those accusations by the opposition that the popularity of NDA was nosediving had been set at rest,'' he pointed out.

Stating that it was the BJP government led by Vajpayee which showed the world that India was no more a third world power, he said the country was strong enough to face a warearlier wars the nation never slapped restrictions on the people like rationing of food or war taxes, he added.

``From three members in the Lok Sabha we have a come a long way. And the 90s showed it was the BJP whose fortunes are on the way up overtaking the Congress miles ahead. This showed the faith of the people on the party and on the party leadership,'' he claimed.

He pointed out that it was for the first time in the history of the country that Vajpayee government decided to institute the Lok Pal institution bringing even Prime Minister under itspurview.

``This was a sincere attempt of BJP to fight corruption at all levels. Without corruption we can have a fearless society. And a fearless society will be devoid of social tensions and law order problems,'' he stressed.

Yediyurappa, who acknowledged the party's commitment to its workers for their sincere work during the recently held elections, stated that the party which started with humble beginning in the state has become a powerful political entity. ``Now everyone wants to become an ally of BJP. There was time when everyone kept a distance from us.''

Yediyurappa, who also hinted at the misunderstanding between the party and its JD (U) alliance, stated that such bickerings were yet to be overcome by the alliance partners.
