ICSE, CBSE syllabi on CD ROM

MUMBAI, SEPT 27: Indian Council of Secondary Education (ICSE) and Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) syballi for all classes will now be available in the form of CD ROMs. A United Kingdom based firm, Dorling Kindersley (India) Pvt Ltd, will be introducing the first of the CD ROMs, on maths, in the market next month.

``The CD ROMs will have both ICSE and CBSE syllabi, and you can click on either one,'' said Peter Kindersley, DK's chairperson at a press meet today. The CD ROMs will have question papers from previous examinations to simulate an exam atmosphere as well as exams at the end of each chapter. DK, which has units in 80 countries, is already selling CD ROMs based on the British curriculum.

DK will also be launching children's clubs in various branches where children can use the CD ROMs. The concept has already been put into practice in Chennai, said Bikram Grewal, DK's Managing Director. As ``India could be the biggest market yet'', the company is also bringing out CD ROMs with a moreIndia-specific World Atlas. Grewal said, ``The editorial content of several books is being worked out here itself. We are preparing travel guides, cookery books...CD ROMs are part of our book publishing programme.''
