Congress leader, ex-governor dead

UNITED NEWS OF INDIA  
AHMEDABAD, SEPT 27: Veteran Congress leader and former president of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) Prabodh Rawal died of a heart attack at Lucknow late last night. He was 70. He is survived by wife, one son and two daughters.

Rawal had gone to Lucknow as a party observer during the ongoing Lok Sabha polls. He suffered a heart attack on Sunday.

Born on July 13, 1929 at Ahmedabad, Rawal, a lawyer had actively participated in the Quit India Movement of 1942. Meanwhile, former Governor of Gujarat and senior Congress leader Krishnapal Singh died early today at his residence in Civil Lines here, following a massive heart attack. He was 78. Singh had suffered a heart attack at 5:45 am.

He is survived by his wife, three sons and two daughters.

Singh, a former State Minister, was member of Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly between 1962 to 1990. He was recently elected to the State Assembly from Sohagpur constituency of Shahdol district in November 1998.
