MPCB seizes four tankers

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
MUMBAI, September 27: Officers of the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board have seized four tankers bearing Nos. MHO-4-7677, NMS-0-4245, MCU-3415 and MMS-2465 while unloading untreated effluent brought from Aurangabad into the sewerage chambers of Sunil Chemical Works of Turbhe MIDC, Navi Mumbai. The tankers were hired by Vibgyor Chemicals, Nilesh Industrial Products and Noble Industries. The tankers have been handed over to Turbhe police.

Meanwhile, the Board has initiated closure action against the Aurangabad-based units and has directed the MSEB to disconnect their electricity. The board is also requesting MIDC to disconnect water supply, seal the sewerage manhole and to take over Sunil Chemicals Works, Turbhe, for its involvement in illegal activities and violation of the conditions of lease agreement.
