The memorandum was submitted after 25 MSS members sat on a dharna outside the collectorate throughout the day.

MSS president Ghulam Memon also threatened to launch a fast-unto-death from October 2, near Mahatma Gandhi's statue, if the State government did not take action against Sharma within four days.

Earlier the group, led by Memon, also observed a five-minute silence outside the collectorate for what they said was a ``condolence meeting for the deaths of seven Ganeshbhakts in Limbayat and the death of a Muslim youth in police firing at Bhagatalav a few days ago.''

Interestingly, the MSS alleged that only non-Gujarati police officials -- including the police commissioner -- were out to create terror in peace-loving Surat city and that they had ``the blessings of certain leaders and ministers of the ruling BJP in the State.''

While the memorandum compared the police action in Limbayat to the Jallianwala Baug massacre and top police officials to General Dyer, it also demanded government jobs to the next of kin of those killed and free eductaion for their children.
