DG explains new excise system

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE  
VADODARA, Sept 29: The new excise audit system aims at improving the whole excise system to make it assessee-friendly and gives importance to aspects like cooperation, consultation, participation, transparency, and reckoning the time factor, according to R K Chakrabarti, director general of Anti-Evasion (Central Excise).

Chakrabarti said the new excise audit system, likely to be started in about two months from now, would ease the assesses difficulties and help them get past records. He emphasised that all the above said aspects would help to minimise disputes and appeals and increase government revenue, besides facilitating Indian business and enhancing its competitiveness.

Earlier at the function, Chakrabarti and other senior excise officials were welcomed by FGI president Amit Gordia, while S S Chawla, FGI senior Vice-President, proposed the vote of thanks.
