VADODARA, Sept 29: With the counting of votes scheduled to begin within six days, the district administration has claimed to have made elaborate arrangements for the same for the Parliamentary seats of Vadodara and Chhotaudepur, elections for which were held here on September 5.The Commerce faculty and Polytechnic building of the M S University have been earmarked as the counting centres for the Chhotaudepur and Vadodara seats respectively.
According to an official spokesman, special training has already been imparted to the officials manning the ballot boxes at the counting centres for the Chhotaudepur seat, while the same for the last batch of officials for Vadodara seat, which began on Wednesday, would conclude on October 3.
Announcing that no mobile phones would be allowed at counting centres -- and that there would be a separate centre for journalists -- District Development Officer Anju Sharma said that the procedure, however, had been slightly altered this time on the instructions of the election commission.
Counting of votes would be held collectively for all the assembly segments and not according to polling booths, as was the case in the past, she clarified. ``All the votes would be mixed in separate boxes according to assembly areas and then counted,'' she added.
Meanwhile, according to collectorate's National Informatics Centre incharge Sanjay Sharma, all the computers at the NIC have been upgraded with special nodes, so as to supply quicker flow of information and other inputs to the CEC and Doordarshan.
