No vulgar channels

EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE
VADODARA, Sept 29: The local administration has reiterated its request to cable operators and control room managers not to relay vulgar and obscene channels and programmes including Fashion TV, TB-6, and others in the city.

District entertainment tax department head, deputy collector Yogesh Dave, held a meeting with all the 30 cable operators and control room managers who have over 65,000 connections in the city, here at Collectorate on Tuesday, and apprised them of the clear-cut instructions from Gandhinagar against the vulgar programmes.

He told Express Newsline that though the operators had already been asked not to air the said shows in the recent past, the meeting was a specific reminder.

According to Dave, all the operators who attended the meet assured the administration that FTV, which is free-to-air and available round-the-clock and TB-6, the Russian channel which is also free-to-air and available from 1.30 am for about two hours, are not being and would not be accessed and furthered to local viewers.

Besides reminding the cable operators about the timely payment of their tri-monthly taxes, Dave also asked them to inform the administration of any video-library supplying blue films or anyone among airing obscene films through cable, so that the guilty could be punished.

``The strict steps are being taken following a special panel of the State Assembly which observed such relays in some cities and asked the State machinery to check the same'', he told the cable operators.
