Tri-service Conference
Gandhinagar:
The 14th Tri Service Conference began at the SWAC headquarters here on Monday. Senior officers of the Southern Command of Army, Western Naval Command of Navy and South Western Air Command of Air Force discussed issues relating to inter-service co-ordination and joint planning. The two-day conference is being hosted by Air Marshal S Krishnaswamy, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief (SWAC), was attended by senior officers of Army led by Lt Gen S Padmanabhan, General Officer Commanding-in-Choef (Southern Command), and those of Navy led by Vice Admiral Madvendra Singh (Western Naval Command), K C Taneja, OIC PR (SWAC) said in a statement.

Promoted
As many as 11 section officers have been promoted to the post of Under Secretary and transferred to different departments in the Sachivalaya. The section officers promoted as Under Secretaries are Ashwin Sikligar, B H Goswami, R V Chavda, G T Chavda, S S Kanabar, M P Barot, I M Patel, H S Parmar, N N Mishra, N P Vachhani and P J Shah.

Dharna threat
Vadodara:
The Gujarat Electricty Board (GEB) Employees' Technical Association has threatened to sit on dharna from October 21 in support of their demand for bonus, overtime wages, proper uniform and leave at par with other employees. A notice to this effect was handed over to GEB chairman Nalin Bhatt on Monday.

New AMC
Manmohan Sutaria has been appointed Assistant Municipal Commissioner (Press and Public Relations) in the Vadodara Municipal Corporation. He replaces A F Sayied who was appointed AMC of the west zone. While Mahesh Trivedi will hold dual charge in the Assessment Department and Public Relation Office, Hasya Patel, the PRO, has been made the manager of the Mahatma Gandhi Nagar Gruha.

ONGC Garba
ONGC Employees' Welfare Committee (EWC) is gearing up to celebrate a `Garba Mahotsava' at the ONGC Regional Office Stadium. The EWC has invited Alap Kala Vrund to participate in the Mahotsava.

Arrangements
Rajkot:
Arrangements have been made by the district administration for the counting of votes of Rajkot parliamentary seat on October 6. Twelve halls have been prepared by the officials in P D Malaviya College in the city. Hotline connections for contacting Election Commission officials in Gandhinagar and New Delhi have also been made.

Rumour
A police inspector who had gone to investigate the `samadhi' of a Harijan youth, Amrutbhai Nathabhai Wadhwana, at Moti Marad village in Dhoraji taluka found that the youth was suffering from tuberculosis for the last five years and died of it. Dhoraji police inspector J Kotak clarified that Amrutbhai was not buried alive.
