The funeral was attended by the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Surjit Singh Barnala, Punjab Education Minister Tota Singh and some state ministers and MLAs, besides the top brass of the police and state administration including Director General of Police Sarabjit Singh, Director General of Police (Vigilance) Sube Singh, Home Secretary Surjit Singh and senior serving and retired officers. G.S. Gill, ADC to the Punjab Governor Lt General (Retired) B.K.N. Chibber, laid the wreath on his behalf.

Hundal is survived by his wife Baljinder Kaur and two sons Harmeet Singh and Jasmeet Singh. His elder son, Harmeet, lit the pyre. His younger son, Jasmeet, who is in US cound not make it to the funeral that was attended by some 1,000 people.

According to family sources, he was rushed to the PGI, Chandigarh, after he complained of chest pains, where he breathed his last yesterday morning at 3 a.m. Before his present posting, Randev Singh Hundal was SSP, Khanna and Fatehgarh Sahib, sources said.
